The title of the entry is an allusion to a column title in the Philippine Star, “As I Wreck this Chair”.

This would probably be the last entry in this blog. I have tried to nourish myself by doing what is necessary for a writer– to write things about the unheard voices within oneself, society. After all, writing is for people to express suppressed voices, not to impress others. Yet in the end I have learned that I failed myself.

As I wreck this blog, I remember things I have written against a number of my readers. These only tells that I am not yet ready to be part of the writing community. I still have yet to fully understand the intricacies of writing. I have to improve my vocabulary, and most importantly gain more confidence in facing the future–the immediate future.

As I wreck this blog, I remember the happy times and actually miss them. If only there were cameras that capture even the minutest detail of feeling.

As I wreck this blog into its silence, I remember having a duty towards Him, my country, and others, and that one could not serve others if he or she does not understand the complexity of the schemas of life.

As I wreck this blog, I remember that having a bluer horizon pertains to a darker, gloomier future.

But then again, we use the darkness in order to see light.

I just hope it is not to late to see the light I supposed I should have seen years ago. 

Once again I was pondering over the scattered texts, both in German and in English. I was thinking about the near future. Time flies so fast that I realized that the four years in high school feltlike only a year to me, and that the entrance exams administered to my batchmates and I were given a few months ago, and that my two seniors’ nights happened some two months ago. 

I do not know yet what my plans are in the future, of whether I will take up Chemistry as my second major (or my masteral degree, if He permits it), or taking German as my minor (which is definitely NOT RELATED TO EITHER MANAGEMENT OR CHEMISTRY), or actually finish my current program. I remember then and there the email of a former teacher, asking me to somehow spend a day in her tutorial center, giving a short talk on how to survive the rigors of academic life. No, I am no expert in this topic. I am no genius as well. All I know is that success highly depends on what the goal in life is. As for me, I wanted to start helping people by sharing what I have learned in science. I wanted to improve lives in the aspect of medicine, and energy. That’s why I decided to take a course related to chemistry.

Anyway, I am now trying to reconfigure my learning style. It seemed that my learning style back in high school is not sufficient in answering the demand of college (or perhaps of the university). I have to read more and more texts–whether in English or Filipino (and now in manageable German)–so as to enrich my sleeping vocabulary master inside my head. I still have to learn new ways, new techniques, and even master the ones I have learned (or self-learned).

Then once again, I glazed over my texts written in German and English, and muttered to myself, I still have work to do. I still have miles to go before I sleep. I still have miles to go before I sleep.

I might not be able to update the blog since I am taking subjects equivalent to 9 units (actually 6 units, with one subject bearing none).

Well, I am merely starting to learn German (well, whether I like it or not or like it more, I have to learn German since it’s a 3-unit course), and I do believe still that NOW is the perfect time to learn an entirely new culture. Hallo!

I am actually annoyed by the new advertisement campaign encouraging people to “Stop Global Warming”. No, don’t get me wrong. I am a supporter of the movement against global warming, and have learned about this issue a long time ago, in my grade school science class. I actually even thought of something like this: If CO₂ the major contributor in the warming of the earth’s surface, then why scientists not device a way so as to “harvest Cs” from carbon dioxide and release the oxygen in the air? Well, was thinking of the idea when I was back then in grade 4 (if I remember it right).

Anyway, I am annoyed by the fact that those who are actually paying for the advertisement are the ones who are the main contributors to the production of million metric tons of CO2 within a relatively short span of time—the oil companies. Oh well, it’s their business matter, and perhaps I should not meddle in those kind of affairs.

I am somewhat disturbed still by the fact that these advertisements present only a small portion of the real goings-on in global warming. No, it’s not enough to say that global warming is getting worse when the polar ice caps are melting, temperatures rising as high as never before. There are other facts to consider, such as the global climate situation (and take note, even supercomputers cannot calculate and predict the effect of global warming in its totality since there are too many factors to consider).

You can go however to this website so as to be more informed about the global warming and climate change. Oh, take note that the effect of global warming is climate change, not the other way around.

I am returning to school in two (2) days time! College life it is, really. No, I am not complaining about anything, actually. I just can’t believe on how fast khronos slides through out of our hands.

Yes, I am taking up three subjects this summer–one of which has 0 units. Here’s my summer class schedule. Speaking of summer, I am going to study German as my foreign language, so… here’s the start of the Guten tag!’s and Auf Wiederhersen’s.

Anyway, so much about the school stuff. Keeping track of what has happened in the past and looking forward to what’s in store in the near future is perhaps the best thing I did this past two weeks, as far as I am concerned. I felt I was deviating from the track I wanted to traverse, and that I was starting to lose sight on my goals in life. Second thoughts on the decisions I made in the past three years in my life started to enter my mind. What if I were in UP? What if I took the offer of one of my teachers in high school about the school paper? What if… No regrets, just second thoughts on what would have happened if I were taking a different path than what I have now.

Anyway, looking on the brighter side of life, it will be the first time that JR, Aby, and I to be classmates! Hurrah for that! Sad part of it is that the class we are taking is on the accelerated track–which means the class will last for only two weeks. Aww.

Here’s to second year! The second killer wave.

PS: I am still not sure whether slots are still open in the parish of Sta. Maria della Strada in their tutorial services or not. Nonetheless, I am sacrificing a part of my time in tutorials, whether it would be in that parish or not. After all, this is a part of what I have been wanting all these years, to share what I have.

I am back, and glasses are back again. I am wearing a totally different pair of glasses (yes, thanks to the people behind destroying my first pair of glasses). According to the ophthalmologist, I have astigmatism, which can be corrected by the glasses. Well, I hope she’s right.

Yes, I am back from Luna, Isabela. The trip was arduously long, since the municipality was only accessible by land (yes, if you have a 4-wheeled vehicle with lots of moola for fuel, that is). Luna was, according to Wikipedia (no need for citation), is a 5^th-class municipality of Isabela. Hmm. 5^th class.

My father’s line grew up in this (almost remote) place, and life was very difficult—at least in the way I see things from my end. Farming was the primary source of livelihood and income. Going back to the place where my grand-grandfather lives (oh yes, he is still alive yet is forgetting things now), though difficult, serves still as a reminder of where we are coming from and perhaps a refocusing lens of what do we see for our future.

My great grandfather is still alive, yet is starting to forget things. He’s quite old, say in his 90’s already, (I remember him saying that he’s in 90+, yet cannot mention his specific age). Oh, he has 5 wives ( if I remember it right).

I finished reading For One More Day by Mitch Albom when we were in vacation, and in the process of finishing more sets of readings coming from my cousin, Kuya Mark (Hallo! Thank you for the 3 books!), and from my friends Aby (I will return the books as soon as I am done with them) and JR (I am to get Mr. Exie’s readings from him and hopefully learn new things in English).

Speaking of “English”, I passed 2^nd sem (thanks Aby for viewing and informing me about it), but is deeply disappointed on my performance this second semester. I know I could have done better but…most unfortunately was not able to pull things off. Anyway, I am grateful still, the mere fact that I was able to pass. Thankful for not crashing down, yet disappointed for not being able to soar high. At least I got a B+/B in Chemistry.

Next target: A.

A for Accounting. Teacher will be Dr. Ibarra (except if she’s retiring or what).

A for soAring high. Learning how to be not contented with mediocre C+’s and so.

A for Activities. No more dull moments. Sharing goals with people means success.

I will definitely miss this lab, but I am looking forward to having another lab like this in my 4th year. Or perhaps in my 2nd degree (if He permits it to happen, and if I still have something left in my pockets).

This would really be quick. Today’s Good Friday, but I still have to review for the upcoming exams next week. Here’s a brief rundown of my exams:
